The shorter Walk

So you've made your choice & went straight through the mini-roundabout. Smart choice. This is the route marked in Red on the hand-made guide-map Keep following the path alongside the road all the way up-hill, There is no need to cross over.

You will eventually approach another, bigger, roundabout (Balloch roundabout). It is @ a 5 minute walk between the previous mini-roundabout to this one. You may notice the road-sign for Balloch Roundabout on the other side of the road as you head towards it, showing motorists which turn-off to take for Broadwood. You, as a pedestrian obviously, will be taking a different route to them !

When you are at the roundabout, just keep following the (only) pavement, taking the right-hand side turning.

After a couple minutes walk from the turn-off, you will see some houses on the opposite side. You will have to cross the road , preferably before you reach those houses. To get to the access road for the housing estate, you can either cross when you get opposite the opening or cross at the traffic island (20 yards beyond the access road opening).

The access road takes you into you into the housing scheme known as Craiglinn. Its a very straight forward 3 minute stroll, if you can walk straight ! Keep following the road-way. Don't be tempted by to use the cut-off lanes, as you will get lost ! The estate is fairly quiet & safe at night.

Keep straight. Ignore the cul-de-sac on the right.


on your right you will pass the new houses in Craiglinn.


Only 4 minutes walk now. Go straight ahead, following the pavement through the barrier & bollard. This brings you to a busy, fast road. Take care when attempting to cross this road. The best postion to cross is away to the left, at the very end of the pavement & cross......


.....at the advertising boards & go down the cul-de-sac. Stay on the right hand path after you cross to go to the stadium. However if you have time & wish to have a few beers or a pub lunch take the left hand path through th underpass. Details here on the pub. The left hand path also takes you to aforementioned Craiglinn Bus Interchange.


So you’ve crossed the road without any hassle & you've resisted the temptation for a few pints. On your right, theres a car work-shop & an aquatic supplies unit but you're just following the natural path


Across the road is wasteland on which broken dreams lie. When Clyde moved to Broadwood, it was to be the centrepiece of an out of town shopping complex with cinema, restaurants & big name stores. Hasn’t quite happened, due to local government reorganisations, but who knows what the future holds ?. Continue on the natural path & glance to your right.....


.....& you'll be rewarded with this view. Go on. You've come this far. Walk down the hill to the stadium !
